It’s hard to play defense against an opponent that has seemingly unlimited resources, acts omnipotent and never needs to sleep.
But that’s the situation Scribewise found itself in over the last couple of weeks. When one of our team members checked what Google’s Gemini had to say about our agency, the answer that came back was confident, polished … and wrong. Gemini thought we were owned by another company.
Some context: Way back in 2014, I sold Scribewise. And then I bought it back in 2016.
In 2014, the acquisition got some press coverage. When we became independent again in 2016, there was no press coverage; as a private company, you really don’t announce unwinding a deal. Everyone who mattered to us knew but, apparently, the internet did not know.
How do you fix a factual inaccuracy about your company when there’s no editor or gatekeeper to call at the offending party?
As they say in sports, the best defense is a good offense. So we went on offense.
Please read my article in Technical.ly that walks through our GEO playbook for correcting the record.

PS: Scribewise is an independent marketing agency.
